The primary effect of Saviotan® Feed is to selectively bind proteins, reflected also in the modulation of some enzyme action. This is how Saviotan® Feed acts on intestinal parasites, through selective interaction with cell membrane proteins, alterating the exchange of ions and nutrients.

Saviotan® Feed, tested as a food additive, has been shown to be very effective in the prevention of necrotic enteritis at doses of between 1 and 5 kg per tonne of feed. Its efficacy has been experimentally tested under critical conditions, infecting the broilers artificially with Clostridium perfringens and Eimeria spp. Even in these extreme conditions, the test carried out 25 days after infection showed the absence of severe intestinal lesions starting from 0.5% dosages of Saviotan® Feed in the ration.

Saviotan® Feed greatly improves the efficiency of ration protein utilisation. Saviotan ® Feed mainly binds to less noble proteins, i.e. the fraction with the lowest biological value. The modified digestibility results in greater utilisation of food proteins.
Better user of protein nitrogen which makes it possible to reduce the protein input for the ration
Better nitrogenous excretion, with fewer volatile nitrogen compounds in excrements and consequent reduction of gaseous emissions and atmospheric pollution
Saviotan® Feed was given to groups of broilers and all the droppings were collected for one week. The increase in nitrogen retention was significant starting from dosages of Saviotan® Feed of 0.2%.

Cholesterol is one of the causes of the enormous spread of cardiovascular diseases in the industrialised countries.
The growing consumer demand for a healthier diet is pushing the food industry into investing significant resources to find food alternatives with lower cholesterol content.
The action of Saviotan® Feed on the enzymatic-digestive activity is also reflected in changes in lipid metabolism. In the production of eggs for example, the yolk cholesterol content can be reduced.
Saviotan® Feed was administered to laying hens aged 50 weeks, at a dose of 0.2% of the feed. The test lasted 5 weeks, comparing two breeds (Mugellese and Leghorn) and two diets (with and without tannin). In the group with Saviotan® Feed, cholesterol was significantly reduced in the two breeds, more clearly in the Leghorn (-17%, against -9% in the Mugellese).
There were no variations in the weight, thickness or colour of the eggs between the thesis with and without Saviotan * Feed.
